Daily Amy: Quit or Die

Over the weekend the doctors finally diagnosed Amy Winehouse. Not TB as the early reports said. It seems Amy Winehouse has emphysema. Which is truly scary for a 24 year old. It is in the early stages - and come from her smoking crack and ciggys. The doctors have warned that if she keeps smoking drugs she will have to wear an oxygen mask. The doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs, it won't just ruin her voice, it will kill her. There are nodules around the chest and dark marks on her lungs. She has 70 percent lung capacity at the present time.

She is still scheduled to perform at a concert in London on Friday celebrating the 90th birthday of Nelson Mandela and plans to headline at the Glastonbury music festival the next day. Her father says this is a good idea: "When she's been inactive work-wise then that's when the problems really start. The doctors have said that medically there isn't any reason why she can't do Glastonbury"
Her father, Mitch Winehouse, also made a plea to Amy's drug using friends: "Please stay away from my daughter. Please. I beg of you. She doesn't need temptation, and what hope does my daughter have if people around her are using drugs. She is an addict, she is trying to have an intervention, and I need cooperation from all of those friends who claim to love Amy. Love her, and leave her alone. Please help my daughter."

This is truly a sad story.
