The Year of Tilda

Unless you've been living under a rock (or you dont know me) then you know how much I love Tilda Swinton. Shes the indie film queen that most people probably know as The White Witch in the Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. Or perhaps from her OSCAR WIN last year for her villanous portrayal of Karen Crowder in Michael Clayton (which was an amazing film). Well I am proud to announce that a quick dip into IMDB.com shows that this year may yet again be the year of Tilda. (thats what I am calling it at least ... well Tilda and Angelina because she has wanted coming out and a movie directed by Clint Eastwood called The Exchange that she is going to win/be nominated for an oscar for) But lets put all that on hold and take a peek at where we can see Tilda this year:

* You can catch Tilda now in a quick cameo performance in the second C.S. Lewis Narnia film "Prince Caspian" reprising her role of the White Witch. (havent seen it yet but people say her 5 minute scene is one of the most exciting of the film)

* She stars as the title character in the new film Julia. The film is about a woman who tries to extort money using a young boy as bait. Looks like shes a baddie here too. Thats how I like her best!

* She shares billing above the title with such actors as George Cloony (again), Brad Pitt, Frances McDormand, John Malkovitch, and J.K. Simmons in the new Cohen brothers film: Burn After Reading. Wow, what a cast - last year Tilda and the Cohens won (best supp. actress and directors) and George was nominated. Add onto that winners Frances M and John M, sounds awesome. Its about: A disk containing the memoirs of a CIA agent ends up in the hands of two unscrupulous gym employees who attempt to sell it. - Sounds to be a comedy - and looks it from the magnificent trailer: http://www.movie-list.com/trailers.php?id=burnafterreading

* Next she shares billing with more amazing co-stars and a great director. She stars alongside Brad Pitt (again), Cate Blanchett, Julia Ormand, and Elle Fanning (Dakota's lil sis) in The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons directed by David Fincher. It tells the story of Benjamin Button, a man who starts aging backwards with bizarre consequences, and is based on an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel. There is much oscar buzz surrounding the film. You can see the trailer here: http://www.moviestrailer.org/the-curious-case-of-benjamin-button-movie-trailer.html

* Next she stars in the new Jim Jarmusch film (director of Broken Flowers, which she also starred in) The Limits of Control. She stars in this with Bill Murray, John Hurt, and Gael Garcia Bernal. It is listed as a crime/drama/thriller and not much in way of a plot synopsis has been released.

* Next shes seen in Come Like Shadows - a new interpretation of Macbeth. With Tilda playing perhaps one of the most challenging roles a woman could play: Lady Macbeth. Sean Bean will be Macbeth.

* Next she puts on her foreign hat and will be seen in Io sono l'amore - a french film by director Luca Guadagnino. A romantic drama in which a foreign society matron in Milan falls for a young chef, this sounds different from a typical Tilda project.

* And lastly, and most exciting, catch Tilda in Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carrol. Co-starring and directed by Marilyn Manson! You can only imagine how crazy this is going to be. And what role will Tilda play? None other than the Queen of Hearts! This is going to be awesome!

So this year, take some time out to enjoy Tilda Swinton!
TILDA TILDA TILDA!
