I am getting back into one of my favorite musical acts from my past. About 3 years ago I was huge into Klaus Nomi. Partly because of the release of his biopic (which you should Netflix now) called The Nomi Song. And from the only song I had heard by him before that time: Total Eclipse. (which was later covered and made a little more famous by Nina Hagen).
Klaus Nomi is part artist, part opera singer, part pop singer, part performance art, part artwork, and part sideshow act. Right up my alley. He melds together so much into a somewhat confusing but nonetheless intruiging performance.
Hailing from Germany, he created a character that he literally lived day to day. Klaus Nomi: an alien from outerspace here to save the human race. That was his tag line. He released 6 cds and performed all over the globe. Becoming most famous in New York and its crazy scenes in the 70s and 80s. Unfortunately he died of AIDS at a very young age, and his career was cut horribly short.

He is certainly not for everyone. Nicholas hates him. He thinks he is weird for weirds sake, and he doesnt take kindly to people who aren't proffessionals singing opera. (Well I was wrong on this .. from Nicholas himself: "i don't mind non-opera singers singing opera. i don't like people fucking with art just be stupidy evocative.") Actually I dont know anyone else who likes him .. probably not many people whom I know even know who he is. Reguardless you cant deny the talent.
