Drew pimps Grey Gardens
I SAW GREY GARDENS earlier this week - and it is simply BRILLIANT!
Here is Drew Barrymore (who has made an amazing turn in her career with her performance in this film) interviewing about the film on David Letterman.

Coming Soon: Anti-Christ
My favorite director: Lars Von Trier (Breaking the Waves, Dancer in the Dark, Dogville, and Maderlay) is about to release his latest film .. and its a departure from form (in a way). Its a horror film, ANTICHRIST, and it looks TERRIFYING.

Reviews for Grey Gardens come in

Although it doesnt premiere until Saturday on HBO. Some reviews have trickled in for Grey Gardens. Here's what I could find:
VARIETY
"Grey Gardens is a must-see for those fascinated by the lore of the U.S.' modern Camelot, as well as another sure to be lavishly adorned movie for HBO."
"Barrymore and Lange deliver vibrant, wonderfully theatrical turns, with Barrymore in particular seeming delighted to sink her teeth into a character this meaty after a blur of relatively forgettable romantic comedies."
**** stars
ORLANDO SENTINAL
"Jessica Lange is brilliant. She plays deluded forcefully, ages credibly and brings pathos to sometimes pathetic behavior."
"It seems destiny that Jessica Lange will be rewarded with every possible accolade for television films, coming awards season."
NY TIMES
"Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore turn in the best performances of their careers!"
"As true to the documentary as it could be, with allowing us a glimpse into the Beale's younger lives, Grey Gardens is a four star production."
WALL STREET JOURNAL
"The HBO film "Grey Gardens" shines new light on old subjects, and the result -- including a fantastic performance from Drew Barrymore -- is beyond entertaining."
"Jessica Lange also brings Big Edie into focus more sharply than the documentary did. She is a revelation."

The Movie Clintons

BIG NEWS! Dennis Quaid and Julianne Moore are signed on to play Bill and Hillary Clinton in an upcoming film! The two are magical together onscreen - see them sparkle in the amazing Far From Heaven. The film, however is about Tony Blair (Michael Sheen reprising his role from the Queen). It features the Clintons in supporting roles, and is rumored to be titled "The Special Relationship" (sounds like a fitting title for the Bill and Hillary movie).
Cant wait to see Julianne play Hillary! I love them both so much

Back together again

Well well well, my favorite onscreen duo of last year are all set up to be back together on the big screen. None other than "The Wrestler"'s Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei. They are set to star in "The Night Job", which will begin shooting this summer. The plot is listed as:
After ten years on parole, Jimmy Herron’s debt to society will soon be paid in full. But his old partner has recently moved into art smuggling and the NYPD wants Jimmy to frame him… or else. With his wife and child threatened, Jimmy’s life is turned inside out and he’s only got till morning to set things right.
No news onto who is playing what, but I will be there - thats for sure.
Tilda's Latest
Here is Tilda Swinton's newest film trailer - THE LIMITS OF CONTROL, also starring Bill Murray and Gael GarcĂa Bernal
Mickey Confirmed for Iron Man

Mickey Rourke's career just got a blockbuster boost as finally today he was officially announced to play the villain in Iron Man 2. Rourke will play Whiplash, a true to form Russian Villain. However he will have some help, as Scarlett Johannson has been cast as Black Widow - the female baddie. I am super excited!
Coming Soon: IT (remake)

I dont know whether to rejoice or be pissed. But Warner Brothers has bought the rights to Stephen King's "IT", one of the scariest made for tv mini-series ever. I know I had nightmares as a child about this film. But it is SO good, how could it ever be better? And if they dont cast Tim Curry - they fail I say.
Grey Gardens - The movie
HBO has filmed and is about to premiere "Grey Gardens" the movie, based off of the documentray of the same title, which was also turned into a hit broadway musical. It is one of my favorite documentaries (if not films) of all time. I was skeptical when I heard they were making it into a film version, and even more skeptical when they cast Drew Barrymore as Little Edie. However, Jessica Lange - my favorite actress of all time, was cast as big Edie and I got excited. However from the little promo's Ive seen, including the one above - it looks AMAZING!

Rourke lands ANOTHER new gig

Today Mickey Rourke signed on for what could be his next shot at Oscar gold. He is signed on to at least 8 films in the next year .. all of which have huge box office potential, but most are action films or non-Oscar fare. However that may have changed today as he signs on for a very risky indie film, which is something Oscar loves to eat up. Paulo Coehlo's award winning and scandalous book "11 Minutes" is getting a screen revamp. He joins previously cast Alice Braga and Vincent Cassel in the film. Alice Braga plays the lead, a girl who swears off romance after being betrayed by a lover. She then somehow winds up as a high-priced hooker, with Cassel playing a music exec who gets her into S&M, and Rourke playing the manager of the sex club, who has hidden secrets of his own. The character in the book is very sympathetic although he runs what may be considered a "disgusting business". It promises to be another challenging role for Rourke. WONDERFUL!

Michelle is BACK!
Michelle Pfieffer is back with the title role in the Stephen Frear's movie version of Cheri, also a book. Here are some clips and the always SMOKIN' Michelle on the red carpet in Berlin. The movie is getting good reviews and a lot of Oscar buzz for Michelle in particular.
