Not Kim

King magazine features a cover photo of Lil' Kim this month. But wait .. that's not Lil' Kim. In fact its actress Naturi Naughton who plays Kim in the upcoming Biggie Smalls biopic "Notorious" ... you should have just gotten the real thing!

Idol Hopeful dies .. at Paula's house

This is extremely sad and terribly shocking. 30 year old Paula Goodspeed killed herself in a car parked outside of Paula Abdul's home yesterday. She auditioned for the show 3 years ago and tagged herself as Paula's biggest fan. Below is her audition. It's very sad. Paula was not home but has made a statement at how shocked and saddened she is.

Coming Soon: Nine

Based on the Broadway show of the same name, director Rob Marshall (who made Chicago a huge box office and academy awards success) is in process of filming the movie version of Nine. And it has a KILLER cast (pictured above). It will be a full scale musical production, and all the actors will be singing. Here's the cast list:

Daniel Day Lewis
Nicole Kidman
Judi Dench
Penelope Cruz
Kate Hudson
Stacy Ferguson (aka Fergie)
Marion Cotillard
Sophia Loren

WOAH! Count me in!

Run by God

Sarah Palin on whether or not she will run for president in 2012:

"If God opens up a doorway for me, I will go through it."

Brace yourselves.

God bless Connecticut

Today the first gay marriage in the state of Connecticut was performed. The state becomes the 3rd state to allow gay marriage, and voters once again backed it up at the polling places this election season, saying they did not want to ammend the constitution to block it - so equality is here to stay in Connecticut. Good job!

Get Over It!

Jennifer Anniston is using her latest Variety Fair interview to trash Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. I am wondering why else she was featured on the cover, she has nothing coming out as of late. There is a rumor going around that Anniston is throwing out negative Angelina press in hopes of hurting her chances at an Oscar this year for her remarkable performance in 'Changeling'. I don't know if she would stoop that low -- but I have to wonder .. why now? This is 4 year old news. She said: "What Angelina did was so not cool." and said she had no idea that anything was going on during the filming of Mr. and Mrs. Smith (which negates what she said in an interview 3 years ago when she admitted that she was suspicious of their closeness). Before even talking about Jolie she was asked a question reguarding her and told the reporter to cut off the tape recorder. Who knows what was said when the recorder was off. We understand that you're hurt Jennifer .. but let bygones be bygones, and move on!

Deanna slams!

My good friend from high school and college, Deanna Gibson, competed in some sort of Manhattan monologue competition and I found 2 monologues she performed, and they are hysterical! She was always one of my favorite actresses to watch and work with. I wish her the best!

Movie Reviw: Religulous

Religulous

I love a good documentary. I always have. You can count: Gray Gardens, Capturing the Friedmans, Sicko, Farenheight 9/11, and many others among my favorite films. Well now there is reason to rejoice, another documentary can be added onto the list of my favorite films of all time: this one is done by comedian Bill Mahr and it takes religion head on. With director Larry Charles (who also directed a little piece of brilliance called Borat) at the helm, I knew I was in for a treat.

It is hard for me to review this movie without talking about my own beliefs. I will try to do that as much as possible. Nicholas and I (my boy and my movie going partner) have very different religious backgrounds, which made this a fun and challenging film to see together. I was raised Southern Baptist, and ran from it as soon as I could. Now I straddle the fence somewhere between agnostic and atheist. Nicholas on the other hand was raised Catholic and still attends mass at least once a week. Certainly he doesn't agree with everything the Catholic religion spews (you know that homosexuality thing), but he is a good Catholic boy (which I respect and find very charming). Might I saw both of us highly enjoyed the film, which I think is the wonder of this movie. Religious or not, you should find the humor in religion and certainly the humor in this film.

Even the most religious of us must find something funny about the Jesus-days theme park, where people gather from all over the world to watch a bloody Jesus be crucified every day on the fake mount. (This scene is altogether funny and disturbing .. small children taking photos of a fake Jesus being nailed to the cross, bleeding all over his little thong). Then there's the ex-gay (you know from Sarah Palin's church). The humor in this scene is that the ex-gay is far from non-gay. The Brokeback Mountain music swirls in the background as he and Mahr stare each other down and the scene ends in an odd over-long hug. Then there's the latino man who says he is Jesus. (He even shares the same name .. so it must be true right?) Then there's the ex-soul boy band member who runs a church and loooves the money that its brought him. The truckers who's church is literally in the back of a large U-Haul, the list goes on and on. Although all of these "believers" are quite humorous, its also scary to think these people have followers. That's where the truth of the movie lies. People follow the tounge talking Robert Tilton (otherwise known as the farting preacher on youtube) the same as they may have followed David Koresh and all the crazies at Waco. People follow "Latin Jesus" just as they may have followed Jim Jones and the People's Temple. It's funny and its scary, but most of all its sad.

Mahr's point seems to be, take the easy way out. When he questions many religious leaders they do not have the answers to his sometimes innocent questions. Making Mahr's statement be: If you cannot describe it/prove it - then it's probably not true. He belittles people who stand strong by believing that a man lived in a whale for three weeks (or was it just a big fish), people who believe 2 of every animal were on a large boat to survive a storm, etc. (I couldn't agree with him more .. people who do believe such things might have a spot in the mental ward of heaven).

What's great about this movie is that it attacks everyone. And it taught me more about the history of religion, and various religions, that I honestly would never had known if I hadn't seen the film. It attacks evangelicals, mormons, scientologists, muslims, islams, the list goes on and on. It actually was pretty lacking on Catholicism, but I mean how much can you talk about the guilt and the child molestation before it becomes its own film (actually it has, Deliver Us From Evil is an amazing documentary about the Catholic Priest scandal which everyone should see). It even, rightfully so, attacks our President (who luckily is on his way out). One of the biggest laughs was taken from W's speech on foreign involvement: "I Believe God wants me to spread freedom to he world. He wants me to do that, and I will. Heck, its part of my foreign policy!" So funny and yet so scary. In the last 30 minutes of the film, things get serious. It turns into the frightening parallel of late between politics and religion. How many cultures will do nothing less than kill their fellow man to make sure their religion reigns supreme. How our president wages war under the name of God. And this is no laughing matter. There certainly should be a separation between church and state, and lately there has not been one at all.

Religulous is all at once hillarious, sad, and scary. I have to give Bill Mahr two big thumbs up for having a voice and expressing it, no matter how many people will hate him for it. To be onscreen saying: Choose no religion or choose death, is quite a statement. To stand onscreen and say "There is no God, and those who believe in him/it/her/them are foolish" certainly take balls. Sometimes I wish mine were that big.

****1/2 out of *****

Daily Amy 5: New Interview!

Here's some pictures of Amy this morning out and about and looking fresh! Also apparently there is a new video interview with her (that my damn work computer won't let me open). You can view that video here: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/article1918233.ece

Daily Amy 4: WOW

Amy Winehouse's song "Back To Black" has been voted the second greatest vocal performance of all time. The 25-year-old singer was beaten to the top of the poll by soul diva Aretha Franklin's "Respect" but Amy was the only artist of this decade to make the top 25. The survey was voted for by students and professors at London's 15 Music Schools and conservatories, along with London music makers (songwriters, performers, etc). Here is the rest of the list:

1. Aretha Franklin "Respect"
2. Amy Winehouse "Back to Black"
3. Freddy Mercury "Somebody to Love"
4. Bob Marley "No Woman, No Cry"
5. Dolly Parton "I Will Always Love You"
6. Jeff Buckley "Hallelugiah"
7. Prince "Purple Rain"
8. Michael Jackson "Billie Jean"
9. Bjork "Army of Me"
10. Bon Jovi "Livin' on a Prayer"

Added on top of that, last night Amy WON: WORLDS BEST POP/ROCK/SOUL FEMALE ARTIST, at last nights World Music Awards!!

GOOO Amy!

Daily Amy 3: Will they or won't they?

The rumors about Amy and Blake are spreading like wildfire lately. The latest rumor is that Blake has a side girlfriend, Sophie Schandorff, who was at a couple of Blake's sentencing's,you remember the one that Amy spat at and threatened with physical violence. Amy has yet to go see Blake since his sentencings (and now she can because he is allowed visitors in rehab). She also has declined to pay his rehab bill. All this points to the fact that Amy didn't even know Blake was going to be released until reporters told her he was out. The rumor mill says that Sophie got a phone call from Blake days before his release, letting her know he would be out soon. Yet he didn't call his own wife. A friend of Amy's said: "When Amy found out Blake had been in contact with Sophie, it was the final straw. He expected her to fund his rehab while he was contacting his other woman. Amy hasn’t visited him in rehab and is refusing to take his calls. It looks like it''s over but we’ve been here before. He’s talked her round plenty of times before."

However Blake is telling a different tune: "She hasn't dumped me. We both love each other and will be together forever. We have spoken on the phone and I am expecting a visit from her any day now. I'm over the worst of it. I won't be going back to that lifestyle. After being in prison the only drug I need is the smell of free air - that and my beautiful wife Amy."

At the same time, rumors have been released that Amy has called in lawyers to keep her $22.8 million fortune away from her husband. A source from a lawfirm says: “There was panic in her team that Blake could get access to Amy’s money. That cannot be allowed to happen. Mitch, Amy's father, is leading the way but Amy is fully aware of what is happening.”

So who is to believe?

Daily Amy 2: The Real Hair

Amy has been sporting her real hair as of late (in case 1 person didn't know, 90% of the trademark Winehouse beehive is fake). Yesterday she greeted reporters outside her Camdem apartment with a tray of bread and cheese sandwiches and answered a couple questions without her beehive. She strayed from talking about Blake, and his release from prison, and said a couple other goodies:

* she went to the hospital yesterday to have a rash on her skin checked out. it is however a good sign. the body breaks out in splotches when someone quits using drugs cold turkey - and that is what doctors told her the rash came from.

* she is focusing heavily on her 3rd album, and said she hopes to have it released within a year.

Pushing Daisies: Cancelling

Sad news for me, and hopefully some others: Pushing Daisies will be canceled after the finish of this season, it's second. I didn't watch the first season, but I bought in on dvd - and was so excited over the originality and fine funny acting. It was a brilliant show, and something new that hadn't been done. Unfortunately not enough people were watching .. and now it soon will be over. Sadness.

Daily Amy: Pub Crawl

With all the news surrounding Amy perhaps thinking of divorcing her husband, etc. its no wonder (with her) that yesterday she went on a pub crawl in London. And you know I have all the pics from it. (I must say shes looking better than as of late) She was also seen walking very close with a new "friend"

Daily Amy 3: Amy Attack explained!

2 days ago Amy attacked some photographers the day Blake was released from jail, and she wasn't there to meet him. People wondered what was going on. And then today she refused to pay his rehab bill. What's wrong with Amy you might think? WELL .. news out just now says that AMY DIDNT EVEN KNOW BLAKE WAS BEING RELEASED. She found out when reporters questioned her about it -- and then she attacked. I don't blame her. Why wasn't the wife of the jailed informed????????? I don't blame her.

Janice on Court TV

Janice Dickinson was sued by a model on her tv show "Janice Dickinsons Modeling Agency". See her smack down this idiot model!

Mellisa Etheridge just blogged this on her official website.
I couldn't have put it any better. I love this woman.

"Okay. So Prop 8 passed. Alright, I get it. 51% of you think that I am a second class citizen. Alright then. So my wife, uh I mean, roommate? Girlfriend? Special lady friend? You are gonna have to help me here because I am not sure what to call her now. Anyways, she and I are not allowed the same right under the state constitution as any other citizen. Okay, so I am taking that to mean I do not have to pay my state taxes because I am not a full citizen. I mean that would just be wrong, to make someone pay taxes and not give them the same rights, sounds sort of like that taxation without representation thing from the history books.

Okay, cool I don't mean to get too personal here but there is a lot I can do with the extra half a million dollars that I will be keeping instead of handing it over to the state of California. Oh, and I am sure Ellen will be a little excited to keep her bazillion bucks that she pays in taxes too. Wow, come to think of it, there are quite a few of us fortunate gay folks that will be having some extra cash this year. What recession? We're gay! I am sure there will be a little box on the tax forms now single, married, divorced, gay, check here if you are gay, yeah, that's not so bad. Of course all of the waiters and hairdressers and UPS workers and gym teachers and such, they won't have to pay their taxes either.

Oh and too bad California, I know you were looking forward to the revenue from all of those extra marriages. I guess you will have to find some other way to get out of the budget trouble you are in.

…Really?

When did it become okay to legislate morality? I try to envision someone reading that legislation "eliminates the right" and then clicking yes. What goes through their mind? Was it the frightening commercial where the little girl comes home and says, "Hi mom, we learned about gays in class today" and then the mother gets that awful worried look and the scary music plays? Do they not know anyone who is gay? If they do, can they look them in the face and say "I believe you do not deserve the same rights as me"? Do they think that their children will never encounter a gay person? Do they think they will never have to explain the 20% of us who are gay and living and working side by side with all the citizens of California?

I got news for them, someday your child is going to come home and ask you what a gay person is. Gay people are born everyday. You will never legislate that away.

I know when I grew up gay was a bad word. Homo, lezzie, faggot, dyke. Ignorance and fear ruled the day. There were so many "thems" back then. The blacks, the poor ... you know, "them". Then there was the immigrants. "Them.” Now the them is me.

I tell myself to take a breath, okay take another one, one of the thems made it to the top. Obama has been elected president. This crazy fearful insanity will end soon. This great state and this great country of ours will finally come to the understanding that there is no "them". We are one. We are united. What you do to someone else you do to yourself. That "judge not, lest ye yourself be judged" are truthful words and not Christian rhetoric.

Today the gay citizenry of this state will pick themselves up and dust themselves off and do what we have been doing for years. We will get back into it. We love this state, we love this country and we are not going to leave it. Even though we could be married in Mass. or Conn, Canada, Holland, Spain and a handful of other countries, this is our home. This is where we work and play and raise our families. We will not rest until we have the full rights of any other citizen. It is that simple, no fearful vote will ever stop us, that is not the American way.

Come to think of it, I should get a federal tax break too..."

Survivor: Still the best

This season of Survivor is topping even some of the great seasons in the last couple of years. Let's face it folks, this show just gets better. And this season is NO different. I LOVE this year. Last night Marcus (the alpha male in the big alliance, was ousted in part by an Indian grandmother Susie .. and I loved it .. Nicholas .. not so happy). So here's a look at my favorites, who I hate, and who will win:

Who I LOVE:

From left:
Crystal: The fiery gold medal Olympic winner has shown that she can outwit an entire tribe. This past week alone, she went from being most vulnerable to convincing Susie to turn on her alliance and vote out the biggest threat. She's a very good mental player.

Sugar: The sweetheart of the season did her own backstab last week when she ousted the games biggest snake Ace. She is certainly a weak player in challenges, but she found the hidden immunity idol instantly, and seems to know that people underestimate her.

Susie: She plays solely with her emotions. But this week the old-timer decided she was better turning her back on her alliance (whom would do the same to her) and go out on her own. Very very smart.

WHO I LIKE:

From left:
Ken: Ken visually is the weakest player, but he has time and time again performed well in challenges, AND outplayed everyone on his team.

Bob: The oldest guy in the game seems to be the nicest. He needs to step it up on the strategy because his own alliance has switched him out with Randy (who you will hear about later). However, he is quite powerful physically and very sweet.

Matty: Matty perhaps has the most passion. I think he will be out shortly because he is in a minority and the strongest physically but he is endearing.

Charlie: The token gay is very gay. I don't know much about his gameplay, especially now that his straight boyfriend is gone. But that being said - I have been given no reason yet not to like Charlie.

WHO I HATE:

from left:
Randy: He is the biggest douche of the game. He thinks he is in power, and he may be for the moment, but I doubt it lasts. He is just a troll under the bridge.

Corrine: The token bitch. I liked her at first but now I hate her with a passion. She's whiney and rude, and I hope she gets outplayed and FAST.

--

I would like Crystal, Sugar, and Susie as the final three; however I predict Charlie, Ken, and Corrinne may be in the top 3. With Crystal as a spoiler.

Anyhow, if youre not watching - you should be!

Broadway Baby!

Before I even begin can I just say, the picture to the left is a NEW picture of Liza, taken weeks ago for a photo shoot for her upcoming Broadway show. Holy hell! She looks great!! Okay .. now onto the news.

Liza's already a hit on Broadway again, and performances have yet to begin. That right: The limited engagement of Liza's at the Palace has been extended by two weeks before the show even opened. It's sold out every single show plus 1 of the 2 weeks extensions already. (The second is planned to sell out as soon as tickets go on sale). All this and the show doesn't even begin until December 3rd. Added onto that 4 holiday matinees have been added and sold out!

The show, according to press notes, "will feature an incomparable Minnelli songfest including many of her personal favorites and signature hits, followed by a dance-filled tribute to the groundbreaking late-1940s nightclub act of Minnelli's godmother, Kay Thompson." Concertgoers can expect to hear Minnelli's renditions of "Cabaret," "Maybe This Time" and "New York, New York."

Uhm can you say -- I'd die to go. (so gay .. but so true)
