Amy's Replacement

Rapper and new mommy M.I.A. will be replacing Amy Winehouse at the Coachella Music festival in CA next month. Amy's visa was denied because of a court case, and M.I.A. has recovered from giving birth. Good replacement I say. I love them both!

You gotta love the Grammys - people wear the craziest shit. I gotta give my best best dressed award to the ZANY M.I.A. who was 9+ months PREGNANT and due on the grammy date!! She looked FIERCE!

M.I.A. to perform on DUE DATE!

M.I.A. will be performing "Paper Planes" at the Grammy's this Sunday - despite it being the day that she is scheduled to GIVE BIRTH! She gave this statement today:

"They say that you're often late the first time, so I'm planning to go. We'll see. People are trying to get me to relax and focus on the baby. It's like being in parallel universes."

Here's hoping she will also make it to the Oscars to perform O Saya from Slumdog!

Crazy singer/rapper M.I.A. just announced that she is "creating a baby". It was obvious if you saw her concert last week, she was huuuge and dancing away. SO CUTE! Watch here:

M.I.A. pulls a Jay Z

Thank God M.I.A. is pulling a Jay Z, and coming out of her so called "retirement" after only 2 months. She proclaimed retirement at the Bonaroo Music Festival earlier this year. However, since the festival, she has receieved some high spikes in sales. Her song "Paper Planes" was featured in the Pineapple Express trailer, and since then the single has risen to the top 10 on iTunes, as well as her her second album Kala. These are the biggest sales for M.I.A. her career to this point. She has never sold well, but has always receieved critical acclaim. So now, because of the success, she is changing her tune. She tells entertainment weekly:
"Well, [Bonaroo] it was my last ever show. And it still is. I stopped touring after that and I didn’t want to make music again. I was quite happy to just leave it all behind. I was happy with what I had achieved. Now, with the success of “Paper Planes,” there’s pull for me to make another record. Even my mum believes in me more [laughs]. It’s a nice encouragement. But I was planning my life as a fishing woman on the outskirts of Cambodia. That’s a joke. I will be making more music."

She doesn't sound too thrilled. But who cares - I want another M.I.A. album!

RETIRING!

M.I.A. performed at the Bonnaroo music festival in TN yesterday. And the reviews of the concert from the New York Times says that MIA said three times during the concert that she was retiring. No more albums either.

At the end of the concert she said: Thanks so much for coming to my last gig. Its been fun. Goodbye!

* also this festival caused some other bad news for Kanye West fans. He was 2 hours late to perform and the crowd an reviewers said it was very "unimpressive" and there were even boos in the audience. Uh-oh - hes gonne be mad.
